The Challenge

Working in the field of adaptation, practitioners are often faced with numerous challenges to get their adaptation projects funded and implemented. Acknowledging the many challenges faced, the Nation Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) engaged CZM consultants Ania Niedzwiadek and Robert Kay to completed three action stories of adaptation success.

The action stories showcased adaptation work completed in Western Australia (in the City of Mandurah), Tasmania (under the Climate Futures for Tasmania Project) and the Northern Territory (adaptation work completed in Kakadu National Park).

The stories were based on desktop research and interviews with undertaken with key stakeholders and/or representatives, and presented three different adaptation successes, including; strong leadership to leave a positive legacy (Mandurah), translating science into decision-making (Tasmania), and learning adaptive management from traditional owners (Kakadu National Park).

“Adaptive Futures were professional and worked fast to help produce NCCARF’s Adaptation Action Stories. The stories were relevant, inclusive and well written. The team displayed excellent follow-though making sure appropriate permissions were addressed and the work was accurate and relevant.”  NCCARF Project Team.

All three action stories are available on the NCCARF website.
